You can see that it is not important to stay inside the lines.

Moving down the lighthouse, the sides of the lens gallery are painted in with the same colors using a flat brush.

Step #13

Note that really deep value. (more paint less water)

While I still have dark colors on my palette, ultramarine blue is mixed with burnt sienna and alizarin. This loose mixture is then brushed in with a 1" flat brush along the tower platform. Let these colors separate on the paper.

Step #14

The bottom edge was softened and lightened with water. Remember no hard lines. We want to keep the rough water look. This can only be done without a static look by changing value and texture at the edge where the water meets the structure.
